Ante Up: We need to stand strong for poker world

That’s part of the game, and it’s part of why we love it so much.
But in the “poker industry,” there is no room for lies or deception. Not even if we cleverly describe them as “bluffs.”
This new year is barely two months old, and we’ve seen counterfeit chips introduced to a major Atlantic City tournament, a poker personality sentenced to probation for what police say was fishing dealer tips out of a toke box with chopsticks and top Scandinavian players’ laptops stolen and infected with a virus that exposes their hole cards online.
We urge the poker community — all of us — to strongly and publicly condemn crimes like these. Doing anything otherwise is a threat to the future of the game we love.
Most us want to see the game of poker expand. We want to see it expand online beyond the three states that allow it. But we face a chorus of opposition that says the game can’t be trusted.

Borgata Spring Poker Open and WPT Championship dates

The 2014 Borgata Spring Poker Open has its official dates and will run from April 8 to April 26 in the Borgata Poker Room and Borgata’s other tournament facilities.

The full schedule, including the 2014 Spring Poker Open Championship Tournament, has yet to be finalized, but we wanted to get the early word out.

This year’s Borgata Spring Open also marks a first as the World Poker Tour Championship—separate from the Spring Open Championship—will be played at Borgata April 21-26.

The $15,000 + $400 WPT event carries a $5 Million guarantee—the first prize-pool guarantee ever for a WPT Championship.

Borgata online poker to host $50K guaranteed tourneys

The Borgata announced it will host $50K guaranteed tournaments every Sunday at BorgataPoker.com.

The $50K is now held at 5pm Sundays and we’ve changed the blind structure. Levels are 20 minutes and the starting stack is 10K.

Online poker seems to be picking up in New Jersey -- perhaps getting Garden State residents back to prime days of online poker.
